Bruce Peninsula is here to save your black little souls you scumbags!

"no god here today, priest."

bruce peninsula, ontario, canada

it seems fitting to start this with a confession. i am a no good, rotten little heathen. now this is not something i am proud of or even happy with, i just don't delude myself about it either. i posses a deep and complex, green for all of you spiritual types. no denomination in exclusion.
with that said, i think any heathen, rat, cockroach, or fratboy, can feel the vibrations of real soul and spirit. the affect still translates. this is where Bruce Peninsula comes in.
the record baits, and then bursts open and flows fantastically from there. this album really takes you somewhere. that is not something that can be said about much these days.
sweaty chants, delicate harmonies, dramatic climaxes and flowering guitar play spray august heat from a kentucky church's double doors. the sound the strength and the soul, of the american south's spiritual trailblazers are all portrayed here so vividly. if you can listen to this and not feel anything then you really are going to some sort of hell. or maybe you just don't have a soul, i don't know, quit being a prude.
